Been there…When you go up for prayer and the pastor or minister speaks a prophetic or personal “spiritual” word over your life and you are wondering what to do now. Well, here are a few good suggestions:
- Write out the word or prophecy and meditate on it. It is important to go back over what the Lord is speaking to you from time to time. Months or even days from then you may not remember all that was said. You may even desire to share it others and it will be better shared written down.
(Habakkuk 2:2-3) - Confirm it with Biblical principles and the witness of the Holy Spirit. Always check any word spoken with you with the Holy Scriptures. The Lord will never contradict His Word no matter what season or cultural era.
(Romans 8:16, 1 Thess. 5:21) - Receive it with faith, humility, meekness, vision, and an open heart. Do not be hasty to reject a word spoken over your life. Not liking the person speaking the word or being judgy of the time, space, motive, etc, could also be ways that the flesh and mind will use to hinder a spiritual transformation. Discern by the Spirit, not judge by the flesh.
(Hebrews 4:2, Matt. 21:21-22) - Read it, speak it out loud, declare it. Remember, faith cometh by hearing….that includes even your own voice. The more you speak over yourself the greater faith will rise up in your spirit for its fulfillment.
(1 Tim, 4:14-15, Proverbs. 24:6, Deut. 29:29, James 1:21) - Pray into it and seek more details, clarity and revelation. Praying over the word for the Holy Spirit to continue to bring insight and revelation to the word will better equip you for what the word is saying.
(Jude 1:20) - Strategically focus your prayers for spiritual breakthrough. Praying the Word will bring spiritual power and authority behind the word in its fulfillment.
(1 Tim 1:18-19) - Revisit it often while waiting patiently. Remember, God does all things in His timing and all things are perfect in His time. Do not rush a prophetic word or disclaim it just because it has not been fulfilled in your timeline.
(Is. 40:31 , Heb. 6:11-12) - Praise God for His great and perfect plans for your life! A spiritual or prophetic word spoken you implies that God has more things and even greater things in store for your life. What better reason to praise Him.
(Jer. 29: 11)
