Now, close your eyes and fold your hands. In this posture, begin to converse with one whom you cannot see with your physical eyes and to whom is bigger, greater, and mightier than you. Speak simple sentences and don’t be afraid to ask questions too. Be open with your feelings, emotions, and the current mood you are in. Make sure you know His name to whom you are speaking and use it regularly and often in your conversation with him. His name is Jesus. Asking Jesus for help in your life is not a sign of weakness but rather of wisdom. Don’t cut your conversation short either, He loves hearing from you; and don’t worry if you feel like you are taking up too much of his time, for He has all the time in the world just for you. But when your conversation with Jesus is over simply end it with the word “Amen”. This word lets Him know the conversation is done and He will go to work on answering and following up on all the things you spoke with Him about.
The activity described in the above paragraph is also known as Prayer. Does prayer really work? It seems too simple for the rewards that come from it. For an Almighty Savior, Glorious Redeemer, and Competent Deliverer to spend His time listening to you…well, one would think he would have more important things to do with his time. But not so with Jesus. In fact, Jesus lives to hear the prayers of His people.
[Heb 7:25 KJV] 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
[Psa 65:2 KJV] 2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.
Because we can be certain Jesus hears our prayer and delights in them, we can also be assured that Christ, who is more than able, will respond to each and every prayer we make with an answer. Remember, Jesus is bigger, better, and brighter than we are; His answers may not always be what we want or even given to us in the way we would want it. Nevertheless, His answers are always for our good.
[Psa 143:1 KJV] 1 [[A Psalm of David.]] Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, [and] in thy righteousness.
[Eph 3:20 KJV] 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
[Rom 8:28 KJV] 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.
However, all that I am sharing with you today may not convince you that Prayer works. In fact, I truly hope it doesn’t. My hope is that this will only entice you to give it a try. The Psalmist wrote that we are to “taste and see that the Lord is good“. So, what’s stopping you? Go back to paragraph 1 and follow its description. What is spoken between you and the Lord stays there. Trust the Lord in this way, ask of Him what only you and Him will know, and then ask the Lord to answer it publicly by His Spirit. Believe that something better is about to happen through your prayers, and it will.

[Amo 3:3 KJV] 3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
[Mat 18:19 CSB] 19 "Again, truly I tell you, if two of you on earth agree about any matter that you pray for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.
